Time Limit

One cold windy night
I decided to take a walk.
When all of the sudden,
time stood still…
Not a leaf stirred.

From out of nowhere,
I heard an owl’s hoot.
Turning around,
I saw not a soul,
just dried fallen leaves.

Panic stricken –
My mind said “Shout!”
But, my voice was gone.
I was silenced mute,
could not find the words.

So, I raced panting,
Up the street of life.
At my own footprints,
With quiet trepidation,
I glanced back…

Then, as the wind,
swept them away,
without a trace,
My heart sank…
and time went on.
