The twelfth sparrow
Tuesday, May 29th, 2007
Eleven little sparrows
out in the yard
I looked for the twelfth
I tried so very hard
I looked by the fence
and under the tree…
It wasn’t by the shrubs,
oh, where could it be?
Up at the oak tree
I looked twice over,
can this one bird be
just downright so clever?
I tried to check
just over the hedges,
it just wasn’t there
though I looked for ages.
Then out of the blue
it came swooping down low.
It was no other than
my missing twelfth sparrow.

W
hen we look at our lives, we always notice what we deem is missing. We search and search for it, trying to fill the void, making more mistakes getting into more trouble. Finally we wonder in desperation and do a soul searching that brings us back to our past deeds, be it good and/or bad. That is when it hits us: what we needed all along had been watching over us, waiting for us to notice His calls and cries. Sometimes, God has to swoop down right in our faces to attract our attention and make us realize that we missed Him.Share, Email or Bookmark This Page
