Shelved
Step one, started easy enough
Open the box. Lay out the boards
Make sure you have all the screws
Then simply follow the rules
Unfortunately the holes
Seem not to match up
A few screws got broken
And the boards cracked apart
It took a full day
Instead of two hours
The bookshelf stands empty
Not worth the saved dollars

Ever heard of the saying, “You get what you paid for” ? This light humor type of a poem certainly has the trappings of one such dilemma. Sometimes, penny pinching does have its rather frustrating effects. One could argue that it can be likened to one’s walk of faith. When a person shortcuts his way around life and settles for the bargains and easy assembly type of beliefs—guess what? You reap the benefits of it also.
To walk in Christ’s footsteps is not an easy task. I would venture to say that there are no shortcuts to it. No, it is not an easy path to take. In fact, it is my understanding that persecution, is always there to hound those that believe and walk in the Light. Still, you cannot let this get you down. Just keep remembering that your hope is in the Lord and your salvation in His merciful and just hands.
When we make mistakes, we pay for it (especially in our bargain-hunting purchases—LOL) but thank the good Lord for hope, forgiveness and a sense of humor.
