Of hands raised in praise

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Of hands raised in praiseWhat lurks behind a heart confused, withdrawn?
Questions unanswered ticking with the clock
struggling to see the light before the dawn
groping in the dark, trying to unlock

this citadel now torturing the flock
man-made limitations written in stone
hiding praises, in hearts and souls to block
as sentimentalism, not to be shown

even as dictated by worship’s tone
offered in gratefulness to God above
while in emotionalism maybe prone
by grace honoring He that came in love

To hide one’s light is far more of a lie
than these hands raised in praise of God on high

Secrets

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

SecretsSecrets hidden deep in the heart
faint whispers heard from afar
melodies being torn apart
speaks of nothing more than love

Gentle wind breeze that never cease
morning dew that’s cold and damp
flowers dancing to the winds command
conceals the truth to please one’s heart

prized blooms of wild

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

prized blooms of wild

to autumn, offer all possible shades of red
from orange-red tones through to cerise,
purply reds and deep scarlets, the dahlias
blooming madly, to last until winter’s frost

Author’s Comments:
My first attempt at a quatrain. A quatrain is a form of poetry. The word quatrain is said to be derived from french (old french “quatre”) and latin (”quattuor” or “quatuor”) words that mean four. In its narrow meaning, the term is restricted to a complete poem consisting of only four lines. In its broader sense, it includes any one of many four-verse stanza form of poetry.

A Happy & Blessed Birthday

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

A Happy & Blessed Birthday!May you be specially blessed on your natal day.
May your concerns be few and your laughter be gay.
May your friends be many and all of them true.
May your dreams be within reach, may they all come true.

As you live your life in God’s light and guidance;
May your faith grow more and be not left to chance.
As you ponder on things and make your choices;
May they all be blessed and lead to joyful dances.

You are special, unique and a creation of value.
You have been tried and are being tested it’s true.
Now is the time to be steadfast: in God, hang on.
For trials are just diversions, you already have won!

Author’s Comments:

Although this was written for a new friend, it hit me that this could also pertain to one’s spiritual rebirth.  So, Happy birthday!
A special note of thanks to the person who inspired me to write this one.  Again, thank you and may God’s peace be with you.

Getting dressed

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

Getting dressed“Get me dressed, oh please mother.”
Beseeched my three-year-old daughter
“I want to look pretty and nice;
with my hair braided, maybe thrice?”

Her hair, dark brown, not black
to her waist almost, down her back.
The thought came as I worked fast,
and got her into her dress, at last.

She then, stood away and twirled
seeing herself in the mirror, frilled.
She grins at me, as I turn to say
“Now what can those toes fit in today?”

Of course, she would have an answer,
to ask, I should have known better.
For after all it is true, plain as day:
She’s my daughter, in every which way!

Friends

Friday, June 1st, 2007

Friends

Gathered round by a common need
each one of us wanting to belong
Seeking wisdom, laughter to share
as the years pass, made us strong

Tears flow, with the good times
Tears come, in the days of sad
We struggle with our differences
unmasking those of evil clad

Our faces change, as years come
Lines may show of weathered fate
Still our hearts, together are
linked by a force: love so great

Miles of land may separate us
Our last meeting, may be ages ago
Time and space, does not matter.
We are friends. Our souls know.

Musings

Friday, June 1st, 2007

MusingsWhat is faith,
if your hands are tied?
Where is hope,
when dreams have died?
Why live the truth,
when lies seem to prosper?
Who do you trust,
as hearts grow colder?

I say, faith is free -
not bought, never in chains.
Hope is eternal –
in souls, where love remains.
In truth, is life,
and one’s own peace of mind.
Trust in God –
For He is just and kind!

It is raining

Friday, June 1st, 2007

It is raining

It rained tears of joy in my heart
when I read of the Great I Am
How God gave up His son, the Lamb
who came without sin from the start

It rained hope and faith in my soul
as I recalled the sacrifice
How on the third day, He did rise
made complete, with the Father whole

It rained tranquil peace in my life
For God’s promise: life eternal
To unbelievers: life infernal
sealed in Christ’s blood, by mercy rife

So it is by God’s love, never waning
that in the Potter’s hand, I am clay
Every prayer and in every day
I thank God for His grace: it is raining

Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies

Friday, June 1st, 2007

pumpkin chocolate chip cookiesWithout eggs or wheat, I shudder
to think what the outcome will be
but I had no choice, so a new recipe
and a list, I proceeded to follow

Still, that adventurous spirit in me
could not resist adding a few things
spices like cloves, a touch of ginger
and a hint of savory nutmeg to boot

Soon the aroma filling the kitchen
made the kids come ask: “What’s cooking?”
And I tried hard to keep from grinning
as I took a peek at the first batch

Dropped by teaspoonfuls, on a sheet
baked, they looked like Chernobyl cookies
but they smelled divine and tasted awesome
yummy gluten and egg free treat, at last!

www.yldara.com

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

A site created by design
that aims to lighten loads of old
with poems and writings plainly told
or a twist added in one line

A place to find one’s self perhaps
in gathered thoughts, prayers uttered
soul baring words, penned not muttered
across the net, no bars or caps

A dream, a wish set in motion
placed in a heart, to dwell not die
living, moving, with wings to fly
soaring beyond just a notion

Now a mission, to humbly share
maybe touch the hearts of many
with thoughts worth a pretty penny
but free to all who dares to care
