A Prayer Missed

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

A Prayer MissedI was too busy today…
I forgot to pray.
I had to get up early.
I had to get myself ready for the day.
I ran from one task to the next
Trying so hard to keep my cool
I kept thinking, as I rushed here and there
Am I such a fool?
I couldn’t stop myself
I had a ton of work to do
Why can’t I just sit down?
Maybe for a moment, utter a prayer or two?
But there were copies to be made
And there were notes to be sent
So I rushed once again
And time just swiftly went
I was so tired at the end of the day
I felt miserable; not a thing went my way.
Why does everything seem so empty and gray?
All I did, was simply forget to pray…

Author’s Comments:

Most often, what we think may not be that important, can make all the difference in our way of life.  Prayer is much like a lifeline and in a sense, it is like a breath of much needed  fresh air.  It is for us to “do” and keep in our hearts and minds.  A prayer a day, helps keep the “gloom” away.

Streams of Living Praise

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Streams of Living PraiseHeartsease, of joy freely flowing
ripples of mirth, moving, ablaze
Souls, in one voice, loudly growing
filling hearts, full of solemn praise

Corridor of heaven’s embrace
gently ushering, exalting
glorifying without halting
from within to a holy place

Love’s expressions, to heaven send
conquering sorrows of life’s pain
proclaiming God’s majestic reign
brimming with mercy without end

In glory bathe, our voices raise
find comfort in God’s mighty rod
with our songs, magnifying God
inspired streams of living praise

Through heaven’s eyes

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Through heaven’s eyes

What is one life’s worth if measured
weighed not by earthly treasures owned
but seen with eyes in praise intoned
and measured more, than all, treasured?

Gnawing thoughts, vain mortality
wrapped in veils of false promises
tied in pain with king Rameses
clouded judgment of man’s frailty

Still, miracles of one’s belief
as one seeks answers from above
through heaven’s eyes, and in God’s love
one’s soul, by grace, not just gold leaf

One’s worth so measured not with gold
but in mercy weighed with such love
worth more than all one can dream of
by faith, a treasure, now, behold!

In the darkest of days

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

in the darkest of daysShine a great light never fading
never waning, so persuading
Filled with love, enslaving sadness
in peace to yield with much gladness

Like a bright shining star of night
do not dim. Sparkle on. Delight
in eternal hope and faith, true
Arise, from the mire of sin’s brew

In your faith in God, be steadfast
Sorrows and pain in His hand cast
Rely on God’s love. In the days
of darkness, trust in Him always

In God We Trust

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

Trials come in numbers high
all to God, in prayers cry
Our souls, thirst and hunger
for God’s love full of wonder

In silence, deeply dwelling
our hopes in Christ so telling
His hand of grace, it reaches
love to our hearts, He teaches

By grace saved, made dauntless
we no longer live in darkness
So in songs, our voices raise
offering our thanks and praise

Until the day to His court
we come to rest and report
Our day to day we must entrust
to God who is merciful and just

One gloomy day

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

one gloomy dayI called on God one gloomy day
and He had a whole lot to say.
First, He asked why I was cold
He knew, even before I told.

I said ” Lord, I am quite lost,
have been foolish to my soul’s cost.”
He said “Child, you know I love you
and will forgive if asked to.”

In complete shame I bowed my head
and in repentance, tears I shed.
My God then, with words, comforted
my spirit, with love, exhorted.

In mercy He gently told me
How in sin I have been set free.
And now in good faith to promise
never be a doubting Thomas.

For His Son has paid the price
on the cross died, a sacrifice.
The sting of death He has erased.
Its powers foiled, of grace replaced.

With this wisdom, God said farewell
and told me in prayers to dwell.
So each day, I do what I must
my life, my soul, to God entrust.

Shiloh

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

A blessing received, to impart
to others who are in need, to share
Strength and bits of wisdom, to air
A hope and prayer from the heart

A task worth more than all the gold
worth more than this life can dream of
To serve under God, for His love
in grace and mercy, to enfold

In every breath of air to take
while minutes last and seconds wait
His gift proclaim a love so great
to stay, keep faith and hope awake

Why not today?

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

Sleep in restful slumber,
cradled in God’s love and peace;
Awaken to the call of angels:
their songs, like a gentle kiss.

Walk with a steady step,
lead by HIS sure and steady hand.
And if on your own you fall,
He’ll be there to help you stand.

GOD never slumbers or sleeps;
HE knows your greatest fears.
And when you are too weary,
GOD is there to dry the tears.

Unburden yourself to GOD today,
and just feel HIS love unequaled.
Let GOD’s will then be done,
and truly live a life, unrivaled!

To a worshipful heart

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

to a worshipful heartfreedom of spirit, expression of souls
in a song, in prayers, hands uplifted
reaching out to touch, reach heavenly goals
and so speak to hearts by faith convicted

while a wall to climb, sorrow afflicted
these limitations man has set, enforced
thrown in confusion, gravely predicted
set in tradition, grandly endorsed

bereft of God’s calling, by action forced
subduing, setting rules to abide by
belying, denying, from truth divorced
demanding one’s all yet from nothing cry

but still the Holy Spirit moves, relates
to a worshipful heart God’s grace awaits

Petals of Mercy

Monday, June 11th, 2007

petals of mercyBlooming for a tired and weary soul
silken touched, so heavenly whole
Promise brimmed grace, floating in praise
reaching out, extended, ablaze

Draped in heartsease, true repentance
stripping souls naked.  A sentence
announced in glory, full of hope
Love’s utter cry, a prayer’s rope

Redeeming faith, of heaven’s light
to behold and feel such a sight
Red petals of mercy Divine
Shed. Given for lives: yours and mine
