There is Hope

Friday, September 14th, 2007

There is HopePain. Sadness. Anger. Madness.
Pure emotions that cannot be masked.
Who? What? When? Why? How?
Mere questions that need to be asked.

Yesterday, brought forth confusion,
leaving behind a trail of emptiness;
Turning your world upside down,
just void of all hope and happiness.

But, today is another day,
and here is a good place to start
When nothing makes any sense,
pray and put a smile in your heart.

For tomorrow brings good cheer,
and a brand new hope of joy to you;
That, there’ll be no more pain,
as you find love: real and true.

My soul

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

My Soul

aches for the warmth and comfort
first known in my mother’s womb
her soothing voice as she sang
lullabies of just pure joy

cradled in her sweet bosom
rocked to slumber in her arms
warmly robed in nothing less
than the silk garment of peace

truly my very soul aches
to hear her voice once again
and to see her face shining
with motherly love and pride

Heartstrings

Monday, August 13th, 2007

HeartstringsCrimson red roses
in bunches of threes
Perfumed love letters
each sealed with a kiss

Clumsy, silly excuses
in words softly spoken
Sweet chiming bells
don a heart, love stricken

After eight years of marriage

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

After eight years of marriage

realization comes not in subtle
or hushed tone of voice but rather loudly
with three young offspring around to scuttle;
demanding attention, rather proudly
prodding and asking questions doggedly.
How we manage to keep our sanity:
a miracle received confoundedly
in a bond with no room for vanity
that disciplines without profanity;
deeply cares without asking much at all.
To raise our level of humanity
from past mistakes we grew, God broke our fall.
Hope and faith, made our love stronger, better
and yes, it all started with a letter!

Tomorrow, wait!

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Tomorrow, wait!A heavy burden of sort
mercilessly tugs at my heart
It pines for love and care
that eluded it from the start

Like a sleeping monster
underneath serene still waters
No reason will it accept
for silence holds all answers

Painstakingly it has tried
to smother its secret fears
Until no trace at all
could be seen of my own tears

So though, through life
I may have to cheat fate
I must always remember
tomorrow can, and must wait

Those red high heels

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Those red high heelsShe puts down her straw hat and pulls
her work gloves off. In the corner
lay her red high heels, almost new
but dusty from unuse. Past life’s
reminder, fun and glamorous
yet so empty, lonely and cold.
Ten years since, she’s taken them off.
Gently she runs fingers through hair
now streaked with gray and eyes herself
in the mirror. Dirt covered jeans
and shirt spoke volumes, like the worn
cowboy boots she prefers. A smile
lights up her countenance. She views
her callused hands, simply adorned
by a gold band on one finger.
And she kisses it as she turns
away from what she does not miss.

Too late!

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Too late!Someone called me up today
and stole my poor heart away
I prayed for it not to happen
but that Cupid, refused to listen

Try I did to dislike him enough
so in the end I could still laugh
Unfortunately all is now in vain
for my whole being feels the pain

My heart will never be whole
unless he returns what he stole
until then I will have to wait
and pray for kindness from fate

Not in a box

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

not in a boxLove is not a box,
a box to put things in.
In a box love fits not,
matters not, what may seem.
Its true that love is,
more than what is expected.
What we may know is less,
expected of us is more.
Of what, love is not,
is just a box of things.
Love, is not and should not
be kept in a box at all.
Ask God, whose love, so great,
we must really learn to know.

Secrets

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

SecretsSecrets hidden deep in the heart
faint whispers heard from afar
melodies being torn apart
speaks of nothing more than love

Gentle wind breeze that never cease
morning dew that’s cold and damp
flowers dancing to the winds command
conceals the truth to please one’s heart

This Woman

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

this woman

I heard this woman
take deep breath and sigh
So I looked into her eyes
and asked her why?
She smiled at me and said
Her love is gone forever lost
Not in her heart
but in a way she dreaded most

I could truly feel
how deeply hurt she’d been
For her troubled eyes
held a certain look so keen
Only I do fear
she had tried to pretend
her heart is okay
and is now on the mend

Aloud she said -
She must cry out in the rain
So no one need find
any reason to complain
And though her nights
are sadly drawn and lonely
In the light of day
she makes believe she’s happy

I tried to reason out
and make her understand
She must not go on
and suffer so out of hand
But she seemed lost
in a world of her own
Adrift in memories
that refuses to leave her alone

Perhaps she is thinking
of glories and times past
Believing in her heart
It’s the only way she’d last
While each day she lives
waiting for more tomorrows
to lessen the pain
and hide all her sorrows.
