Mission: Possible

mission-possible.jpg

Getting up before the sun rises
before shadows, flit past in front
of my screen. Fingers, pounding on
keys, forming thoughts into verses.

Sipping on a cup of hot brew
thinking, then working on newfound
angles, to portray, paint in words
while the rest of the household sleeps.

Listening to one’s heart beating
rhythmic like cadence, so telling
of a reason to persevere,
to keep writing, while time, is mine.

Pressing on with an idea
or two – to raise the bar, trusting
moments and lines, to carve a place
before breakfast needs to be fixed.

Making time to write every day:
a mission, all, too possible.

Author’s Comments:

Here’s a poem that rightly speaks of making time to write, be it poetry or whatever is your passion.

I fully understand, how impossible it all seem at first when faced with the multitude of tasks, chores and must do’s daily. But, I have to say that in such a case the old adage “if there’s a will, there’s a way” applies.

Of course, it does not all fall into place in a day (sometimes, it takes months of practice) to be able to fall into the pattern of making and grabbing that niche of a time to do your writing.

It may just be fifteen minutes of pure imagination and data organization, still it gets you closer to the next time around when you are finally ready to sit and write down those ideas waiting to get out of your head.

Before you know it, you will be doing it, like its second nature (pardon the flippant turn of words).

Remember, every opportunity to write is precious and always worth it! :)

As conflict rages across

as-conflict-rages-across.jpgFear grips, shackles tightly
chaining this mind; trapping
this soul in angry scars
of bullet-riddled walls.

In forced silence, mourning
another death – loved one
or stranger, it seems not
to matter anymore.

Mine, is but one more face
mingling with starvation;
empty hands, hardened heart,
shrouded in pained darkness.

Nowhere else to run to
and hide. In woeful plight
stranded. In misery
perhaps, destined to be.

Still, am waiting, longing
for peace, to come about.

Bedtime Blues

gripping me in sleepy-eyed daze
dragging feet and tired body
checking up on the children, doors
dimming down and turning off lights

Bedtime Blues

brushing my teeth, washing away
all the dirt and grime of the day
putting on my old pajamas
off to bed with a grateful sigh

Riding Winged Verses

Riding Winged Verses

Saddling up before the dawn’s light
Chasing gloomy shadows away
Sipping on hot and strong dark brew
Battling cobwebs that cloud one’s mind

Taking a firm stand, making time
Clearing away all past clutter
Thinking, writing and enjoying
Painting with a bounty of words

Resolved to frustrations, and yet
Never again to waver or stop
Learning, knowing and improving
Poetry – One’s dream of an Art

Portrait of a Dream

Portrait of a Dream

Silver-hued canvass
Bright, reflective, inviting
An adventurous ride
Of endless possibilities

Shelter cradling lonely souls
Home to listless roaming
Shadows filtered by dawn’s light
In reality marked

Rainbow gilded ancient art
Fortress of silent hopes
Pathway to wishes untold
Portrait of a dream?

The Things I Did In This Lifetime

The Things I Did In This LifetimeThe walks in the rain and storm
Just listening and learning
Touching lives, in a manner
Mere words fail to describe

Discovering nature’s wonders
In plain sight for all to see
Rising from the rubbles
Of troubles and uncertainty

The meeting with ordinary folks
With extraordinary tales
Feeling their pain, their joy
Keeping it in one’s memory

Being able to share one’s gift
Being blessed beyond compare
These, I know and more are
Dreams, in reality fulfilled

First Snow

First Snow

My love beckons:
“Come with me and see.”
So, I look out,
face against the glass.

White powder drops…
dressing up the grass.
Silently it calls out,
to stir a yearning in me.

Slowly, I unhook the latch
opening the window wide…
I stretch my arm out,
flakes melt in my hand.

I close the window,
And I am warm again.
What a wonder,
…to feel my first snow.

Fifth of November

Fifth of NovemberLast night I talked to someone
and just really tore myself apart
I asked a whole lot of questions
and then broke my foolish heart

Gently he explained things to me
as if afraid I would soon melt
Though he never did mention it
I saw – he knew then, how I felt

Oh, if only he was a stranger
I would never have even dared
If only he was not a friend
he would not know I truly cared

October dawn

October dawnA cool breeze blew over
the early morning mist
that one dawn of October
in memory I will list.

For although in body,
I was still frail and weak,
a spirit full of life,
I did possess so to speak.

While in the still silence,
as I just earnestly prayed,
deep, deep down within me
a battle raged and weighed.

Yet, as the new morn came,
and darkness lost its might -
I found there is in me
a will, to serve the Light!

Sweet Innocence

Sweet InnocenceWild torrents tried to rush
into my solemn little world
Storms in their intense fury
threatened to engulf my soul

Sad fate kept me on guard
as I moved to tread on life
Passion gripped my shoulders
but I managed to be free

Quietly I struggled onward
fighting back wild emotions
Until they all lay panting
at the foot of my innocence
