Here where once dreamt, a senorita

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Here where once dreamt, a senoritaCracked, uneven pavement, trampled upon
by bare footsteps of shadows past and gone
lead the way onward to a favored spot
where, treasured memories, are all but caught
dancing, gamboling in this porch of dreams
while glitter and stardust, sparkles and gleams.

Blossoms of sweet scented sampaguita
greet souls like a glass of margarita.
Tiny tight-lipped buds, hiding their beauty
coyly at daytime; all, bound by duty
like the creaky steps that sound an alarm
as I come to this porch, drawn by its charm.

True, it is quite old and needing some work
yet, somewhere in here joy and peace does lurk
chasing ghosts away and spreading good cheer,
that a heart, who has known bounties of fear
may take repose with the sampaguita
right here, where once dreamt, a senorita.

In the Fields of Life

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

In the Fields of Life

We are farmers with soil to plow
We are planters with seeds to sow
No matter where life’s streams may flow
or, how full the river is now
In the fields of life sow, we must
the seeds of love, hope, faith and trust

We are miners of hidden gold
We are weavers of silken dreams
No matter how very hard it seems
To make it all come true, behold!
In the fields of life grow, we must
the tree of love, hope, faith and trust

We are examples, one and all
We are believers, tried and true
No matter what we must go through
sailing the stormy seas and squall
In the fields of life yield, we must
the fruits of love, hope, faith and trust

So while we tarry a bit more
in the fields of Life - our souls, pour!

Husband

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

HusbandIn firm reassurance, you gently take my hand
when my head, with many untold worries, spin
When temper flares and anger dominates me
peace and reason, your quiet reproach, lets in

With love and understanding, you set me free
basking in the hopes and dreams, we chose
You believed in me, turned my tears to joy
In moments of despair, you held me close

A lifetime is not enough time to cherish
what precious memories we have together
Our friendship grows, as our love endures
husband of mine, my true significant other

October dawn

Monday, October 15th, 2007

October dawnA cool breeze blew over
the early morning mist
that one dawn of October
in memory I will list.

For although in body,
I was still frail and weak,
a spirit full of life,
I did possess so to speak.

While in the still silence,
as I just earnestly prayed,
deep, deep down within me
a battle raged and weighed.

Yet, as the new morn came,
and darkness lost its might -
I found there is in me
a will, to serve the Light!

For Moments Inspired

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

whirling thoughts into fine phrases
licking words in measured phases
as dust devils of the mind jaunt
the embers of poetry taunt

struggling with some silly notions
to make new with fresh emotions
digging and searching for old schemes
mining silk-lined cupboard of dreams

For Moments Inspired

sorting moonbeams held in one hand
stringing words, pearls of wisdom grand
trusting moments to carve a place
as rhymes fly, and lines run a race

the strong winds of time allaying,
verses stand, silent guards - praying
while dust devils remain, still wired
waiting for those moments, inspired
