Time Limit
Friday, August 3rd, 2007

One cold windy night
I decided to take a walk.
When all of the sudden,
time stood still…
Not a leaf stirred.
From out of nowhere,
I heard an owl’s hoot.
Turning around,
I saw not a soul,
just dried fallen leaves.
Panic stricken –
My mind said “Shout!”
But, my voice was gone.
I was silenced mute,
could not find the words.
So, I raced panting,
Up the street of life.
At my own footprints,
With quiet trepidation,
I glanced back…
Then, as the wind,
swept them away,
without a trace,
My heart sank…
and time went on.

Watermelon Smoothie
Thursday, August 2nd, 2007
somewhat red without the dairy
slightly pink, frothy concoction
with a straw for easy suction
ice cold milk, to make it airy
refreshingly sweet sort of drink
not the usual creamy smooth
given a parched dry throat to soothe
distinctly delicious, I think
although many may not agree
with my opinion entirely
I go for a watermelon smoothie
on a hot day: my cup of tea!

Mystic Tree
Wednesday, August 1st, 2007
mystic tree of life
of perfect beauty and grace
purified by strife
restore tenderly
all dreams in sorrow broken
and in truth set free
create, now create
a legend that was foretold
a story so great
arise from the mire
all hope and faith anew
a spirit on fire
then as dreams do end
wisdom found, of glory tell
all, to heaven send
