Recollections
swaying, moving, a dancer’s swoon
floating, suspended, air born grace
a vision and a dream to chase
caressed by shadows lightly strewn
broken fragments, sheer reflections
of mind and time, a waste to wait
aging skin, foil to wisdom’s fate
such beauty in recollections

Fashioned Opinion
A statement of pure machismo
and certain appeal is, the rough
around the edges draw and force
of cowboy boots on men. Women
seem to be defined by the ease
that they appear to glide and float
in their fancy suits or dresses
and gravity defying heels.
Somehow a mystery, puzzling
in harmony, they mix and match.
With irony stuck in the midst
to truly observe and report
of men and women’s fashion styles
one needs to be quite just as bold.

Not in a box
Love is not a box,
a box to put things in.
In a box love fits not,
matters not, what may seem.
Its true that love is,
more than what is expected.
What we may know is less,
expected of us is more.
Of what, love is not,
is just a box of things.
Love, is not and should not
be kept in a box at all.
Ask God, whose love, so great,
we must really learn to know.

Softdrink
I hold in my hand a glass
- half empty or half full.
A view dependent really
on who’s looking or asking.
Its bubble filled content
clear, like spring water.
Lemon-lime in taste
caressed by cubes of ice.
No doubts left in me
why millions adore it.
It hits the spot.
For now, my thirst: abated.

Am I content?
What a question to ask one’s self
when in a world of wants, one dwells
and credit cards are used like spells
to get a “must have” for that shelf.
Does it really matter you ask?
to be content with what you have…
to feel a joy nothing can halve…
It does, if in truth one is to bask.
For contentment is not a prize
to be sought or bought with money.
It is priceless, sweet as honey
found in Christ, by all who are wise.
While money is just uncertain
a supply, you can run short of
God’s promises, mercy and love
are limitless, always certain.
So if one asks with true intent
I pray that the answer would be
a joyful “Yes!” for you and me.
In God’s great love – I am content!

More than just trees

Trees are truly amazing. They are just one those “things” that make believing in the existence of God a win-win scenario. They sprout out of small at times tiny seeds, yet a tree, can grow to be so tall, one has to look up to it. The trunk of a tree can get so wide around, that it takes several people to surround its girth.
Now, why am I even writing or thinking about trees, you ask? Well, I thought, how awesome of God to have thought of trees with such detail and how HE has equipped trees to not just survive but thrive and multiply.
Trees are known to be naturally resilient when native to the area they are planted. Some trees even have perfected a way of “talking” with their fellows. There are trees in Africa that Kudu (an antelope) and other plant-grazing animals are fond of eating. Yet, these trees have a way of surviving. Whenever, leaves of a tree are eaten, it sends off an aroma that warns other trees in the area that the “grazers” are there. It then, along with the forewarned trees, release a form of toxin into their leaves that give the grazers, a form of indigestion or tummy ache, if you will. Therefore, the animals know when to stop eating, and the trees on the other hand, continue to propagate.
Aren’t we created in HIS own image and likeness? So how much more equipped are we to deal with situations we find ourselves in? We have been blessed with so much more than what trees have, surely we can hope and try our best to be more of a blessing.
No matter what our situation in life may be, there is always room for a few more friends and strangers to share our blessings with. There is always something we can share, that somehow will help lift others up be it our past experiences or current “worries”. Even when we are at our lowest, there is at least one other person out there that we can help. By letting them see our pain and how it helps us grow more in our faith, they too are blessed – to do better, be better, and find comfort and hope in the Lord.
Every tree is different and has something different to offer. One tree may offer shade to the weary traveler; another may offer its fruit to the hungry; still another may have roots and leaves that heal the wounded. Some trees offer beauty while some offer themselves as wood to build with, cook with and flavor food as well.
We are just like trees in this way. Each one of us is different with different things to offer. We are created to co-exist with one another through our differences. We grow at different rates and in different ways.
God created us to be more than just “trees” though. Most of the time, we are not to be stuck in one spot to serve our purpose. We are to give of ourselves not just through our strengths but in our weaknesses, too. We, have to be uprooted at times, from the comfortable surroundings we know. This is so that we can grow more, become more of the person we always hoped to be and God created us to become – joyful, peaceful, free, blessed and a blessing to others.

Nature’s newborn sleeps
as icicles cling on the eaves
to announce winter’s call to arms
while sleet forms a coat of silver
on grass and limbs awaiting Spring
then the pitter patter of rain
creates a choir of rhythmic beats
to free the soil from winter’s chain
and wake the earth from its slumber
until blooms reign true once again
their fragrance wafting in the air
to kiss old winter’s cheeks goodbye
and welcome springtime in its place

Questions
Is love without time,
Or, is time out of love?
Are all wisdom learned
and life, forever bound?
Souls quest in thirst,
for answers not yet found.
Questions, never ending…
who to ask, and when?
Of love, life and time,
what does one really know?
Can it then be, the end,
when we stop asking?

Mirror Images
You and I are the same
in the mirror of life’s game
Our smiles and frowns reflect
the joys and pains we have met
The lines in my face show
weathered fate you also know
Tears from our eyes are shed
for God’s mercy, daily we are fed
You and I are the same
Our battles, too many to name
We live our lives, day to day
touching others along the way

We are blessed, for our God is a God of truth, love, mercy, grace and life. May we share this blessing with others. And may we live our lives always mindful of blessing others in praise, honor and glory of our Lord God.
On angels’ wings
Yesterday, I was sad
and feeling quite blue;
for on angels’ wings
my own little one flew.
I tried to hold on,
not wanting to let go;
and as His call sounded,
I cried out: “ Please, no!”
In quiet stillness
I struggled with grief.
Until something in me said:
“Go, turn a new leaf.”
My little one’s voice
I can almost now hear,
in soft whisper saying:
“There is nothing to fear.”
For now he plays
by the heavenly throne;
Free and at peace,
with no time to mourn.
